Monday Morning Music | Love is Such Good Grief

Years ago Peter made a mix CD. Actually, in the first month we hung-out - you know, before we even kissed, he made me a mix tape. I still get that tape out every now and then. As the years moved on it was time to move on to mix CDs though - and that's what I'm speaking of right now. I was in photography school at the time. He had begun to make seasonal mixes to pass out to friends. This one though, I think it was just for me. It was a winter mix and I would listen to it while driving around the roads of western Mass - hoping to get lost and find interesting places to photograph. This song still gets stuck in my head sometimes...which it has recently...which is why I'm choosing it for today's selection.

I don't know much about Nedelle, but I do know that I love the sweetness of her voice - and how it brings me back to a simpler (if confusing) time in my life.

Boston Interiors Photographer | What Home Looks Like

When I meet someone for the first time and I tell them I'm a photographer, they often ask me what I shoot - you know, mainly. I take a breath and say, well...two things - mainly. I shoot weddings because I love being there on one of the more important days in a couple's life together. I love seeing the in-between moments and being around people. I also shoot interiors, however (and exteriors, but interiors are way more interesting to me). I enjoy seeing how different people choose to decorate - choose to create their space and make it personal. I was once told I needed to decide on which to shoot. I have decided to not choose. I like them both.

Entering someone's home for the first time is always intriguing. You may know the person well -  or not know them at all, but when you see their space you immediately begin to tweak what you think about them. How have they chosen to decorate? What is their overall aesthetic? What does that painting on the wall say about them?

One thing I've noticed, sadly, is that many people don't really have an aesthetic - or haven't completely found it yet. Shopping in home stores isn't bad, but I think it's important to add a few personal pieces and not use those stores to decorate every nook and cranny of your home. Sometimes though, I get the great pleasure of entering a home that feels incredibly personal. In those spaces I would gladly spend all day photographing every detail and creating hundreds of tiny vignettes - to tell the story of the person who lives there. The other day I stepped into one of those homes. These are just a few overall images of this fantastic space. I think the kitchen is my favorite room.

 

 

 

 

 

Monday Morning Music | A Little Pick Me Up

This weekend was a busy one. I'm back at my desk, working away and just felt I needed to hear a song that made me boogie a bit in my chair. We've seen Camera Obscura a number of times and have loved every concert. We especially love their Scottish accents!

The album and song title are the same "French Navy". Enjoy!

Love First | Winning Couple Announced!

Ashley & I are quite excited to announce the winning couple of our Love First contest! We had the honor of reading so many wonderful entries - love stories...and who doesn't enjoy and good love story? We had a difficult decision to make, but after careful deliberation we've chosen a couple who we're very much looking forward to getting to know over the next few months!

2012...so far

Just popping on to say Hello and Hi! January has been a bit busy. This is the season when the other part of my business picks up - photographing interiors. I have a home that I'll be sharing with you in the next few days...it's lovely. While we won't be shooting any weddings for the next couple of months - we have been meeting with potential clients - and realy enjoying meeting everyone. We've moved the meetings to our home, instead of meeting out somewhere, and it's been a joy to host people here...much, much more comfortable - and I do enjoy hosting!

Ashley (of Eventfully Ash Design) will be visiting this weekend. We're going to choose the winner of our contest - Love First! We're both incredibly excited with the response. It's going to be quite difficult to choose one winner from all the amazing entries we received.

As some of you may have read in a past post - Ashley and I met at a little cafe in NJ. Banana Bread was always baking there. So, maybe it was the thought of her coming, or maybe it was just the fact that I had almost rotting bananas sitting on my kitchen table - whichever it was I baked a loaf this moring from my mother's recipe. And it is quite tasty (if I do say so).
