In January I went to visit with my friend Nicole and her husband Conor to document their life right before the birth of their son. In March, a few weeks after E. was born, I went back to see what their lives were like now that they were new parents. I'll be going back this month - for my three month visit with them.
Back in March though, there was still snow on the ground and E. was very much a sleeper (which I'm sure is not the case these days). I love the feel of this photo. He's cozy in his seat on the kitchen table - little does he know what's coming next.

Once Conor got home from work he and Nicole got prepared to give E a bath in the kitchen sink. I have photos of my parents giving me a bath in the kitchen sink when I was a few months old - they're some of my favorite photos of my Dad and me. You can tell how carefully he's handling me - not quite sure what exactly to do yet. Nicole and Conor appeared to be pros at the bath thing already.

Then we went upstairs to get him cozy for a nap. This is such a great moment with Nicole and Conor fussing over their newborn baby - and their dog off to the side. But don't you worry. Their dogs still get a lot of attention from them - even with a new baby around.

These are from earlier in the day when I first arrived. This is the first photo I took of Nicole as a new mom. When I visited with them in January I took a photo of Conor and Nicole's hands over her belly. I wanted to get a photo of Nicole's hands actually holding the baby that was in her belly this time - and I love having her son's hands in there too.
