The past two weekends have been filled with summer. I've been enveloped by the peace and overwhelming fun that I felt as a child during summers, which is something I haven't really experienced for the last few years. It's just been great. In fact, Peter tells me that I said "this is just great!", multiple times over this last weekend.
Two weekends ago, on July 4th, Peter and I took a trip up to New Hampshire to spend time with a family photographing their portraits and doing a day in the life shoot. We met up with them at their summer home, which was built by the grandparents about 40 years ago. Their three children now have children for a total of seven grandchildren, so suffice it to say the day was never boring. I just loved every minute of it!

Soon after we arrived we began our half hour long hike into the woods to a waterfall, which has been a destination of the family for many years. The waterfall is where we took the family portraits. It was a perfect backdrop because they really have a connection to the place.

We took the hike back and then I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening capturing the 15 of them enjoying each other's company while they went swimming, checked out water snakes and crawfish, kayaked, ate dinner (which peter and I had too - yummy bbq food), sat around a campfire, making smores (which we also had - mine was made by one of the boys - very gooey and tasty, and the first one of the season) and of course, setting off fireworks. It was such a wonderful day.

this may be my favorite.

Oh! One of my favorite parts of the day is when I had the chance to jump in the lake. The water was so clear and the perfect temperature. Peter snapped a photo for me. Check back later this week for the tale of what we did this weekend and for a few photos too.
