Allison & Ben | engaged

Allison & Ben are getting married in a few-hours-more-than-a-week from now.  Before that day comes I wanted to share with you a few images from our shoot together.  Allison & Ben definitely made our jobs easy.  They're naturals in front of the camera.  We had a great time getting to know each other better - while playing around by the water, and on docks, and on boats - my ideal day! 

Peter and I met up with Allison & Ben by the harbor.  We spent some time on the docks first - where there happened to be a beautiful sailboat waiting for us to use as a backdrop. 

 

This is one of my favorites.  I love the colors and the expressions...beautiful.

Then we took the Boston Harbor launch out to Allison & Ben's sailboat.  I fully enjoyed every single moment of being on the water.  Sometimes I completely forget that I live by so much water!  How is that possible?

 

 

We finished up as the sun was setting far behind the skyline.  Afterwards Ben & Allison were incredibly generous and took Peter and I out for drinks.  We had a wonderful time sharing stories and laughing.

Karin & Bart | featured on Beantown Bride

I really liked the way Karin & Bart decided to split up their ceremony day and party day.  It made the day they actually became married very calm - and it made their reception a huge celebration.  Today they are featured in a two part post on Beantown Bride!

Julia & Peter | engaged

Peter and I met up with Julia & Peter at their home in the North End.  We began the evening by having a drink on their roof deck which has a beautiful view of the harbor, Charlestown, and Boston.  The weather was perfect and the sky was scattered with gorgeous clouds.

Truth be told - our drinks on the roof were to give a bit of courage to Peter and Julia (a little more to Peter).  Having your photograph taken professionally is a strange thing.  The idea is to act naturally with one another, but how can you act naturally with a camera close by - and with people around who you only recently met?  And that is exactly the reason for a shoot before the wedding!  By the end of our time together everyone was much more at ease - and I captured some great moments to boot.

bbq, sundaes, & dominoes

Recently my life has been filled with work and sleep - and repeat.  I know I've had fun over the last month.  I know I've visited with friends, but it all seems like a blur.  A blur of working and sleeping and a bit of eating.  This weekend I chose to relax - really spend time with friends and focus on things that make me feel like me.

I have wedding photos to post soon - and an engagement shoot to share - and many more photos too, but until then I thought I would share part one of a two part fun-filled Memorial Day weekend.

A bunch of us gathered at Scott and Lacy's for the inaugural barbeque on their new grill.

The drink of the evening was the Bee's Knees.  The drink was quite tasty and it definitely propelled us into a lot of laughter.

With construction complete - the first charcoals were lit.

I'm not positive these two moments went together in real time, but they definitely work in a diptych.

Dominoes has become one of our games of choice.  Lacy even made a trophy to be awarded to the champion of each game we play.  Our first champion was Peter way back in January.  The winner must add a little something to the trophy.  Lacy began the tradition with a bee - and Peter added a car.

We took a sundae break before finishing the game.

And the winner of the Supreme Domino Championship Cup was Doug!  I believe he won by about 5 points over Lacy, which comes into play in part two of our Memorial Day festivities.
