One of the things that I love and appreciate about living this life is letting things happen...let them play out as they are meant to. Rebekah picked up my business card two years before her wedding - before she and Mike were officially engaged. I'm sure - early on in my business - I counted how many cards were taken, and was possibly disheartened when all of those missing business cards didn't result in a call right away. But...that one card did result in a call...it just took a little break in a drawer in their home for a bit.
I am so grateful to know Rebekah & Mike. These two are absolutely clients-turned-friends. We've lingered over pints of beer and glasses of wine discussing weddings (of course), music, movies, but also life - real life - especially the parts that make you grateful for being here - and letting life play out as it is meant to.
These two had a perfect wedding day. We began at Rebekah's childhood home (which features a beautiful blue living room) - then to the church, where I saw a nervous Mike ready to begin the day.
I absolutely love seeing grooms fiddling with their new ring. Love the shot above for so many reasons. Immediately after the ceremony I took them away for a few moments alone - to soak it all in.
We took some portraits in a park - and then went for ice cream at Swirls & Scoops!!
DIY elements care of R&M - and, I'm sure, some friends as well. Flowers by 77 Blossom Shop.
Sometimes while I'm photographing, certain moments hit very close to my own heart. Mike lost his mom a few years ago. He danced with his mom's best friend for the parent dances. This was one of the most emotional dances I've witnessed. And, I couldn't help but picture my brother in Mike's place. Needless to say, Peter and I took a few moments after the dances (while everyone was eating) to cry a bit and gather ourselves for the rest of the evening. These are real moments though - the reason I do what I do.
Rebekah & Mike - thank you both so much! We're so very glad to call you friends. What's the next restaurant on our list?!
