The band The Lucksmiths have been in my head the last few days. This morning I decided to put them on and the song "Camera Shy" began to play. I thought of Peter and how he has had to put up with there being a camera around him all the time for years now, when he is in fact a bit camera shy. This last year in our lives has put us in front of the camera numerous times now - so much so that I do believe he has gotten over his shyness - for the most part.
I knew that he wouldn't mind me taking photos on our honeymoon, but there's still a bit of hesitation in me sometimes - not wanting to wear out my camera's welcome. We arrived at the beautiful beach at Bathsheba and I was in photographer's heaven. At one point I meandered down the beach a bit ahead of Peter. I found this little cave of sorts and knew he'd love it. So, I waited. I waited with the camera right up to my face - waiting for the moment he would see it for the first time, because I knew there would be a genuine look of excitement across his face.
This song goes out to my husband, who will be celebrating his birthday tomorrow. I'm grateful that I've been able to document our lives together - every step of the way. Happy (early) Birthday to you!
Sadly, The Lucksmiths are no longer together, but their music lives on.
