We walked in the door at 3:30am this morning. Our travels began last Tuesday evening and took us to New Haven, CT – Hopatcong, NJ – back and forth between mid NJ – "Down the Shore" – NYC – and back up. We were in the car quite a bit. Not a very restful trip, but we did see a lot of people we haven't seen in a while, which I loved.
One of the reasons we made the trip was for Peter's Grandmother's 90th Birthday party. 90! Peter comes from large families on both his mother's side and his father's side. I am one of two grandchildren on my mom's side (me and my brother) – and one of five on my dad's side. So...to be married to Peter, who is one of 17 grandchildren (just on his dad's side alone) is quite amazing to me.
I've only really begun to know this side of the family in the last couple of years. Greg, one of Peter's cousins, has helped me quite a bit in learning everyone's names – and telling me family stories (which I love). He's kept up with my blog and even mentioned finding new music from my Monday Morning Music (I've missed a few Monday's recently, huh?). He's downloaded some Lucksmiths, which is one of Peter and my favorite bands – especially for summer listening.
This weekend Greg handed me four CD's full of music for Peter and I to listen to on our drive back up to Boston. We didn't get through them all yet, but one of the discs started off with a Del Amitri song that I haven't thought about in years. That song also reminded me of my obsession with another one of their songs – "Roll To Me". My brother will vividly remember me listening to that song – on repeat – pretty much anytime I got into my car when I first began driving.
So...for your listening pleasure this morning we have to Del Amitri songs. Thank you, Greg for reminding me about both of these!
